Role Purpose Statement
The Materials Logistics Manager is responsible for leading all supply chain and materials management activities across assigned Customer Service Centers (CSCs), ensuring optimal performance against operational, financial, and service-related metrics. This role provides end-to-end oversight of inventory and materials management, including demand forecasting, procurement, production planning, inventory control, supplier performance, and distribution execution.
The position drives continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, improve inventory accuracy, and maintain compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. The successful candidate combines deep food industry experience with strong expertise in purchasing, materials management, forecasting, cost control, and team leadership.
As the regional supply chain leader, this individual is accountable for achieving materials management KPIs, developing and mentoring CSC Materials Managers and their teams, and implementing best practices that support business objectives and customer requirements.
Main Accountabilities
- Lead all supply chain, inventory, and materials management functions across assigned CSC locations.
- Oversee receiving, storage, and distribution of food products, frozen goods, packaging, and operational supplies.
- Oversee demand forecasting, production planning, procurement, inventory management, and product delivery processes.
- Manage annual spend for perishable food products and operational materials while ensuring cost optimization and supply continuity.
- Analyze food cost variances and implement corrective actions to improve margins and financial performance.
- Drive SKU rationalization and inventory optimization initiatives to reduce waste and improve working capital.
- Develop, implement, and standardize SOPs to ensure operational consistency, food safety compliance, and process efficiency.
- Build and manage strategic supplier relationships, negotiate performance expectations, and monitor vendor service levels.
- Lead continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives utilizing Lean and supply chain best practices.
- Partner cross-functionally with Procurement, Finance, IT, Program Management, MDM, and Lean teams to achieve organizational goals.
- Maintain strong customer relationships and support service excellence across the region.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and lead a team of approximately 20 employees, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP requirements, food safety regulations, and company quality standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in food industry supply chain, materials management, or logistics operations.
- Experience in warehouse operations, purchasing, or inventory management.
- Ability to thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP principles, food safety regulations, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Expertise in purchasing, inventory control, demand forecasting, production planning, and vendor management.
- Proven track record of managing large spend categories and driving cost reduction initiatives.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-site operations and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in food cost analysis, inventory accuracy, and performance metric management.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and customer relationship skills.
- Continuous improvement mindset with experience implementing process optimization initiatives.
