Role Purpose Statement
The Human Resources Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for new and existing employees, providing support across a wide range of HR functions. This role is responsible for maintaining employee records, processing timesheets, administering benefits programs, and responding to employee inquiries. The HR Assistant helps ensure a positive employee experience by addressing questions and concerns while providing guidance on company policies and procedures.
Additionally, the role supports the administration and management of Human Resources policies and practices, ensures compliance with federal and state employment laws, assists with employee relations matters, and coordinates local recruiting activities. The Human Resources Assistant plays a key role in maintaining accurate HR documentation, supporting talent acquisition efforts, and contributing to overall workforce engagement and compliance.
Main Accountabilities
• Serve as the primary HR contact for employee questions and onboarding support.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
• Process timesheets, benefits enrollment, and other personnel transactions.
• Assist with the administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company employment regulations.
• Support employee relations activities and resolve routine HR issues.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring processes at the local unit.
• Support HR initiatives that promote employee engagement and operational effectiveness.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years of experience in human resources recruiting required
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, interact with all levels of management and maintain strict confidentiality
- Strong analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with large groups – must be flexible
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish required
